Do I need to be a member of a local club to be a member of CGMA?
Yes, you need to be registered with a club and have a valid ASA license. You can register online for a license number using the CGA online Athlete Registration System
(www.cgaonline.co.za)
and join UJ Sport, contact
UJ Athletics.
Do I need to wear CGMA kit at races?
No, you should wear your normal club kit at races. CGMA kit is only for national competitions.
Are age tags optional?
Age tags are optional if you are competing for age category prizes, but they are compulsory for track & field and cross-country events unless you are competing in the open category.
Can I compete in multiple categories?
Yes, you can compete in both the open category and your respective age category in the same event. All athletes are eligible to win prizes in both their age-category and open category.
What if I'm a Road Runner?
Visit the
Fixtures
page to view the official CGA race calendar for 2025. Enter via
runningcalendar.co.za
so that your times can be verified when you apply for medals or colours in your respective event. There are also 10km and Half Marathon events at the Championships.
What is SAMA?
SAMA stands for South African Masters Athletics. If you are a member of CGMA, you are automatically a member of its parent structure, SAMA.
